Measuring is easy if you follow these simple steps:
- Using a pencil and the graph paper sheet from this Website, sketch out the areas needing new flooring. Always begin with the largest room showing doorway locations and the relationship between each adjoining room, hall, closet, or stairway also being covered.
- Using a metal tape measure, and once again starting in the largest room, measure the overall room wall-to-wall in each direction, in each area. Write these numbers on your drawing in feet and inches rounding up to the next highest inch when a fraction of inch is measured.
- If you plan to use different surfaces, (i.e. sheet vinyl, laminate, carpet or ceramic tile) mark each room with the desired surface. The same process should be followed if your color scheme changes room to room.
